Residents who fall out of bed have always been a concern for long-term care facilities. Regular beds don't provide the safe resting height that patients with Alzheimer's or dementia need, and placing mattresses on the floor presents housekeeping and quality-of-life concerns. Fixed-height low beds are useful in reducing falls but can cause caregivers serious back strain when lifting and transferring patients in and out of bed.
Carroll Healthcare addressed these concerns with the Solo fully electric ultra-low bed. The Solo II allows residents to rest a safe height of just 7 7/8" from the floor. With the touch of a button, caregivers can raise the bed to a comfortable working height of 25". Plus, the head and knee sections can be raised with the easy hand control or the optional footboard attendant control panel.
