Aria Medical is both blessed and cursed to call Adrienne Doss our webmaster. She not only knows a thing or two about the Web, but she also runs a tight ship and tends to be a bit of a perfectionist. Her sense of humor adds a special spice to our everyday lives here, while keeping us all on our toes.

How long have you worked for Aria Medical?

Almost three and a half years. When I first started at Aria Medical, there were only about 10 of us in a tiny office in downtown San Antonio. We worked right across the street from a meat packing plant, and the smell was overpowering. It reminded me of our old college newspaper office ... peeling paint, outdated computers, mismatched Salvation Army furniture.

What do you like best about working for Aria Medical?

This is literally the best job I've ever had, so it's hard to say what one thing I like best. I guess if I had to choose one thing, it would be the freedom. Joe trusts me to do what's right for the company, so he gives me free reign to create and experiment until we figure out what works. It's refreshing working for a boss who expects and even encourages mistakes as a necessary learning tool.

Can you tell us about a time when you think a fellow employee went above and beyond your expectations?

The other day, someone around here actually changed the toilet paper roll when it ran out! Considering this group's track record on the toilet paper issue, that's way, way above and beyond my expectations. I should probably set my sights a little higher than basic bathroom etiquette.

What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?

Most of my time away from work is devoted to my daughter Zoe, who is just about to turn 16 months old. What a great age! It's such a thrill watching her grow up, making funny animal sounds and dancing to silly songs. Besides that, I'm pretty well known for being a video game addict. Just today, I mentioned to a coworker that I was really tired, and she responded, "What level are you now?"

What's your favorite board game?

Scrabble. No question about it. At one point, I thought it would be fun to start playing Scrabble competitively, in tournaments ... yes, people actually do this ... but these days I mostly just play against the computer. My husband doesn't enjoy getting repeatedly slaughtered, so he won't play with me anymore.

If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?

I'd probably enjoy being one of those lab monkeys that they teach sign language, which is strange since monkeys generally freak me out. But they get to learn and play all day. Plus they're fed well and kept indoors, away from the elements and predators and nasty jungle viruses.

What's your favorite restaurant

San Antonio has a lot of fabulous Mexican restaurants. I'd recommend ChaCho's to anyone who likes authentic food, a fun atmosphere and margarita glasses as big as your face.

What was your favorite answer to "whadda ya wanna be when you grow up" when you were a child?

I always thought I'd end up being a famous writer. I started writing poetry in third grade. In high school I started working on the school newspaper. I was the editor of my college newspaper for a year, and then I worked for the local alternative weekly newspaper for a while. At some point, I realized that while I like to write, I really hated interviewing people, and my illustrious journalism career came to an end.
